LDK Solar ups Q4 revenue forecast, mulls HK IPO

Dec. 15, 2009 (China Knowledge) - LDK Solar Co Ltd, a manufacturer of multi-crystalline solar wafers, has announced that its revenue for the fourth quarter of this year will reach between US$280 million and US$310 million, higher than the market estimation of US$258.72 million, sources reported.

In the period from October to December, the New York-listed firm sees wafer shipments between 320 MW to 340 MW and module shipments between 20 MW and 30 MW.

The enterprise's total revenue hit US$281.9 million in the third quarter of this year, and its profits amounted to US$568 million, whereas it suffered RMB 205.5 million in losses in the previous quarter.

Last week, an executive of LDK Solar revealed that the company is planning to spin off its poly-silicon business to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The silicon producer intends to spin off two of the three companies, namely LDK Solar Energy High-tech Co Ltd, LDK Solar Multi-crystalline and LDK Photovoltaic Silicon Co Ltd, in a Hong Kong offering.

Reportedly, LDK Solar, which is based in Xinyu, Jiangxi province, has inked a supply deal to deliver 50 MW of solar modules to Belgium-based Enfinity in 2010.
